Most of the current F3B and F3F models have evolved to be very similar in design, ~3m, V tail, 2,000 - 2,200 grams empty but can load up to 4,000 for great conditions. There are several excellent models, Fosa Lift, Pitbull, Pike Precision, Device etc.. But like drag racing, speed, costs $$$. WOW!

Randy. Xplorer refers to the planes that have F3B based airfoil (X2 airfoil, X3 is same airfoil with round tips). Explorer is a new airfoil specially designed for F5J. Explorer works fine with low wing loadings, Xplorers noid a little higher AUW to fly well. Fuselage and tail is the same.

The Ultima 2 wing is 234 mm wide at the root and sports 8 optimized airfoils along the span starting with a 7% thick airfoil at the root and ending with a 5.4% airfoil at the tip. The Ultima 2 wing is available at 2 wing lengths, 4 meters and 3.6 meters. Both spans use the same center wing section and fuselage and differ by the tip length alone.

What is going to make better distance; if 270 - 290m launched F3B or 400 - 500m F5B. Hi Pavel, My personal record for launch height in F3B is 398m (ideal and strong wind conditions in Texas). Xplorer F5J center panel with MKS 6130 servos in frames 459.2 grams. Explorer F5J right tip with MKS 6110 servo and frame 165.1 grams. Xplorer F5J right tip with MKS 6100 servo and frame 208 grams. That's a savings of 86 grams for both tips and 84.4 grams for the center panel for a total savings of 170.4 grams just in the wing.
Keep in mind that a 12 year old wing design with older, thicker, F3J sections just took 1st, 2nd, and some other top spots at the F5J world championship and won the European championship as well. The thicker sections make the wing stiffer and stronger for a given lay-up, at the expense of a bit of extra core material.
